Cultural Tile Series (2024)

In this series, I explored my culture through use of motifs in tiling (and an occasional pot). To represent my Pakistani heritage, I used patterns akin to henna/mehndi; this was done through techniques of sgraffito. As a way to represent my english side, I used glaze to paint native florals on some of the tiles. I also included some modern patterns from English tilings, usually clear lines and sections.
